Project Name: Virginia Transfer Station Repairs
Project Scope: Tipping Floor Replacement & Repairs
Timeframe: All repairs: Ten (10) days; Tipping Floor: Three (3) days
Description: The 10,000 sq. ft. Transfer Station in Fredericksburg needed repair. After an initial review with the local operating team, a comprehensive repair plan was put in place. One of the primary goals was a new tipping floor. Sufficient manpower was put in place to start work on the weekends to minimize downtime. At this point, the badly damaged floor was removed, the sub-base was repaired, and rebar was installed in preparation for the new floor. Once the rebar was set, a high-early concrete mix with durable aggregate was poured with adequate coverage, providing an optimal wearing surface. The high early mix allowed the owner to return to active operations in as short a time-frame as possible.
The Tipping Floor repair was completed in two weeks with the floor replacement only taking three days.
This project also included plumbing and building repairs dictated by the local environmental authority.
