Our Company History

The original Cambridge Company was founded in 1988 when Ray Eriks opened Cambridge Construction and Development. The new company operated as a general contracting firm which specialized in producing top-quality commercial and industrial design/build projects throughout Northwest Indiana and Northeast Illinois. In 1998 Linda and Ray Eriks opened Cambridge Builders, Inc. to develop projects throughout the rest of the United States. On January 1, 2006 the companies were merged into one under the new name of Cambridge Companies, Inc.

Cambridge Companies continues today as a highly-respected consulting, design and construction firm with on-going projects throughout the country. We continue to take pride in providing value and a quality product for each of our all-important clients and are dedicated to completing projects on time and, more importantly, on budget! One of the ways we accomplish this is through the use of our in-house design team and state-of-the-art computer aided design (CAD) systems which allow us the flexibility to show you any changes you desire almost immediately.

Our Client-Contractor Relationship Style

Unlike some other companies, we prefer to work as closely with our clients as possible to ensure that the project is completed to fit their specific needs. We accomplish this by following a very tight schedule through personal relationships with our subcontractors. Listen to what Don Slager, Chief Operating Officer for Allied Waste, says about working with Cambridge Construction:

Dear Ray,

Please accept this letter as a symbol of my sincerest appreciation for your assistance in developing and managing our various building projects. From design through completion on projects ranging from office renovation to heavy service industrial building construction, your staff's commitment is evidenced by their workmanship and attention to detail.

I most especially appreciate your willingness to take the time to understand our business to insure that each project, in its completed state, will best perform the function for which it is intended. Your creative design ideas and experienced insight have been invaluable.

Our company has certainly benefited from its association with Cambridge Construction and the "partnership" approach you and your staff take. I look forward to working with you on projects that lie ahead.

Sincerely,

Don Slager

100% Focus on Your Project

When it comes to monitoring each job, we follow the job as if it were our only one. Our field employees and project managers take pride in your finished product. Each project manager works very closely with you to make sure any modifications that are wanted, or needed, can be incorporated with expertise and skill.

We Only Use The Best Project Software Available

This makes it easier to track all costs while the project is in progress, not just at the beginning and the end. Currently we are using Expedition, a program used to follow each and every facet of the job, in association with Timberline software, which is used for tracking all costs and every aspect of the budget to make sure that all items are accounted for and within the budget specifications. With client access to Expedition via the internet you know what is going on at all times throughout your project.
